Things to be thankful for May 25th, 2010

I'm thankful for having even just a few things organized (swim bags, travel bags etc.).  It takes less and less time each year to maintain and I love that.

I am thankful for things that Kelsey and I can do together. It's fun to spend time with her and I miss her!

I am thankful for the occasional late night snuggles with Declan.  There is something very sweet about him all snuggles up to me on the couch, under a blanket, I love it!! Just not every night, or I'd be exhausted!

Things to be thankful for - May 24th, 2010

I am thankful for answered prayer.  It is the little things I remember, and having sunshine for our time on the boat was a wonderful answer to prayer.

I'm thankful for our boat.  It is a great way to spend time together as a family and it's a LOT of fun!

I'm thankful for Justin.  I'm thankful for his kind nature and his maturing character.  I (we) love having him live with us and love spending ime with him.  I'm so proud of him and I'm lucky to be able to call him my son.

Today and yesterday

Yesterday, we stayed late chatting at Bible study and we accidentally locked Justin out of the house (he got dropped off  while we were still there and had forgotten his key).  As a result, he has now proclaimed himself MacGuyver.  And all because he managed to start a fire (in the fire pit) with just a barbeque, some paper and a couple pieces of wet wood.

Did I mention he's quite proud of himself?  It took him 5 minutes to tell me the story on the phone.  It was really sweet.  To tell the truth, I thought it was pretty cool too and I liked it even more because he was happy.  I love seeing my kids happy, and being able to delight in the everyday things.  Especially when the situation could easily have been a negative one :)

Today was a pretty great day too! We took the boat out for it's inaugural ride and had a great day at Falcon lake.

The very first trip!

Everyone else, ready to go!

I know I've said this before, but I'm so happy that Helmut is happy.  We had a great day together with the kids and I can't wait to make these day trips a regular occurance!

Things to be thankful for - May 23rd, 2010

I am thankful for being able to be a stay at home mum.  After hearing the ladies talk about their workplaces, I'm thankful to be spending my days serving the people I love the most.

I am thankful for Rosa.  I am thankful for her friendship and for her support over the years.  (I'm also thankful for her mom's cooking!)

I'm thankful that Hilda is home! I have missed her like crazy.

Things to be thankful for - May 22nd, 2010

I am thankful that Helmut and I can fight; be open and honest with each other and then make up.

I am thankful for our families who are willing to watch Khai and Declan when we have other committments.

I am thankful for good friends for Helmut at work.  I know the Lord is at work there and it makes me thankful.

Things to be thankful for - May 21st, 2010

I'm thankful for simple everyday conversations with Brett.  It helps our relationship and I enjoy getting to know him better each day.

I'm thankful for friends to spend time with on a Friday night.  It was a wonderful, relaxing, fun evening.  Thanks guys!

I'm thankful for my mother, who, often understands me, but, every once in awhile gets me completely - without words.

Things to be thankful for - May 20th, 2010

I am thankful for a father-in-law who not only makes time to come over and help us at the drop of a hat, but who also phones (twice) to make sure that the repair guy was there and had fixed the problem. (Hot water heater working again!)

I'm thankful for long bike rides.  I feel renewed and energized.

I'm thankful for the sunshine.

Things to be thankful for - May 19th, 2010

I am thankful for a husband who works hard and does things the right way.

I am thankful for electricity that works so we can heat water while our hot water tank is broken.

I'm thankful for new clothes.

Thankful

You may remember that I said I was embarking on a mini project a month (or so) ago.  Well, I never did start it...until yesterday.

I had decided to really notice of the things I'm thankful for. I often feel like I take things for granted, and I didn't want to do that anymore.  As a Bible study group, the ladies and I were reading 10 Smart Things Women can do to Build a Better Life.  There was a story in there about a woman who decided to take note of the things she was thankful for.  Three things a day for a period of time, with no repeats.

I've decided to do the same thing.  I made a little book a couple months ago and I'm going to record three things daily that I am thankful for, with no repeats.  You lucky readers will also get to read them here on my blog!

Hope you can take the time to be thankful for something in your life today!

Cars and trucks and boats! Oh My!

Last Monday, I watched my first car be towed away.  If you've ever been to our house, you know that there were two cars parked in our driveway; the black one and the green one.  The black one was my car.  My very first car.  It's the first (major) purchase I ever made.  It's the car I was driving when I met Helmut.  It's the car I was driving when I took Khai home from the hospital.  It's the car Michelle and I galavanted around Winnipeg in. It had memories attached to it.
The black car was also my sister Michelle's first car.  She loved it almost as much as I did.
But, it's time in the sun was LONG over, and so we donated both the black car and the green car to Teen Challenge.  The big flatbed tow truck came and Khai and I sat on the deck and watch them tow away the cars.  Funny thing though...the memories are still here.
(The green car was Kelsey's first car.  I don't know if you have the same memories of your first car Kels, but I took pictures for you too, just in case!)

Oddly enough, the space that was vacated in the driveway, by getting rid of these two vehicles has been taken up (as I mentioned in my previous post) by a new-to-us BOAT!

Helmut and I are thrilled by this new addition (you'd think we were having another baby! HA!) and we can't wait to take it out on the water!

The kids are just as excited as we are.  We had lunch in the boat the other day (at the request of Brett) and the kids "hang out" in there quite a bit as well.  It really has been a family bonding experience, and I'm sure it will be even more so once we actually get it into the water!!

A dream fulfilled.

My husband has been dreaming about owning a boat for well over 30 years.  Today, his dream came true.   We are now the proud owners of a boat.

I love you Helmut, and I'm so happy that I could be here to see this dream come to life for you, because you've made so many of mine come to life.

As a bonus, this is going to make camping a whole lot more fun for me!!!
